Sports podiatry has landed in the Inner West
Platinum Sports Podiatry has treated athletes, tradies, parents and active people across the Sutherland Shire and the Illawarra since 2020. Our Marrickville clinic brings the same biomechanics-led approach to Sydney's Inner West.
Whether you're running laps at Enmore Park, standing all day on Marrickville Road, or you've had heel pain for months and pushed through it, we assess how you actually move — not just the spot that hurts. You leave knowing what the problem is, what's driving it, and what happens next.
You'll find us at 95 Chapel St, Marrickville, a short walk from Marrickville station and easy to reach from Dulwich Hill, Petersham, Newtown, Sydenham, St Peters, Enmore and Tempe. No GP referral is needed.

What we treat
Tap a service to see how we approach it. Treatment plans are built around your situation, so get in touch for detail on yours.
General podiatry treats the foot. Sports podiatry looks at the whole movement pattern — how you run, jump, cut and load. We assess your biomechanics, find why the tissue is being overloaded, and build a plan that returns you to your sport with the strength to stay in it.
- Running injuries and training-load review
- Return-to-sport rehab and strength programming
- Footwear, spike and boot advice for your foot type
- Injury-prevention screening for teams and clubs
That sharp pain in your first steps out of bed is the most common thing we see. It rarely resolves on its own once it's been there a few months. We identify the source, settle the pain, then address the loading problem that caused it.
- Plantar heel pain and plantar fasciitis
- Heel spurs and fat pad irritation
- Achilles tendonitis and tendinopathies
- Sever's disease in active kids and teens
Custom orthotics are prescribed off a full biomechanical assessment, not a foot scan alone. They're designed around your foot, your footwear and what you actually do all day — running, standing shifts, court sport or general comfort.
- Full gait and biomechanical assessment first
- Device prescribed for your activity and footwear
- Review and adjustment included in your plan
- Claimable on most private health extras
A non-invasive treatment that stimulates healing in stubborn soft-tissue conditions that haven't responded to rest, stretching or off-the-shelf inserts. Used alongside a loading program, not instead of one.
- Chronic plantar heel pain and plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendonitis and other tendinopathies
- Heel spurs and shin splints
- No injections, no downtime
The assessment that sits underneath everything else we do. We look at joint range, muscle strength, alignment and how you move under load, then explain what we found in plain terms you can repeat to someone else.
- Static and dynamic assessment
- Footwear review — bring your training shoes
- Clear plan with realistic timeframes
- Liaison with your GP, physio or coach where useful
Painful, recurring ingrown toenails can be fixed properly rather than trimmed back every few months. We'll talk you through conservative management and, where it's the right call, a simple in-clinic procedure under local anaesthetic.
- Immediate relief for acute ingrown nails
- Permanent nail surgery options
- Thickened, damaged and fungal nail management
Corns and calluses can usually be treated gently on your first visit for instant relief. Plantar warts are more involved — there are a lot of unproven home remedies out there, and we'll be straight with you about what actually works. Fungal issues like tinea respond well to a consistent plan.
- Corn and callus removal
- Plantar wart treatment
- Tinea and fungal skin management
- Comfortable general nail care
Regular diabetic foot assessments catch circulation and nerve changes early, when there's still plenty that can be done. We check blood flow and sensation, review your footwear, and set a review schedule that suits your risk level.
- Vascular and neurological assessment
- Wound and ulcer risk management
- Footwear and offloading advice
- Coordination with your GP and diabetes team
We support NDIS participants with lower-limb assessment, orthotic therapy and ongoing foot care, with clear reporting for your plan. Home visits are available in the surrounding area for patients who can't get to the clinic.
- Self-managed and plan-managed participants welcome
- Assessment reports and progress notes provided
- Mobile appointments subject to availability
Your first visit in Marrickville
You won't be handed a generic exercise sheet on the way out. We look for the cause of the pain, not just the spot that hurts.
Assessment
We ask about your symptoms, your history and what your days actually involve — then look at how you move under load.
Diagnosis
We tell you what's going on and why, in words you can repeat to your GP, your coach or your partner.
Treatment plan
Hands-on treatment where it helps, plus the exercises, footwear changes and a realistic timeframe for recovery.
Questions
Ask them. You should walk out clear on exactly what to do between now and your next visit.
Bring your current sports or work shoes, any scans or reports you have, and wear shorts or something you can move in.
Dr Khaled Assaad
Founder of Platinum Sports Podiatry and a biomechanics-focused podiatrist who established the practice in 2020 to deliver a smarter, more integrated approach to foot and lower limb care.
Khaled combines advanced diagnostic techniques with personalised treatment plans, and is known for explaining exactly what's happening and why. Patients come to him with Achilles pain they've carried for years, heel pain that hasn't budged, children with Sever's disease, and knee pain that turns out to be starting at the foot.
